Happy Halloween

October 31, 2009

I am not going to claim to be a cook, but occasionally I do break out a bowl or two and see if the microwave is still working. Currently the microwave is on a limited use status. Only three of the buttons are functioning, start, clear, and the add 30 seconds button. So…. everything you cook has to be done in 30 second increments. This happens to work perfectly for chocolate! It allows me to melt chocolate without getting bored and walking away. And in case you were wondering, if you leave chocolate in the microwave too long, yes it will burst into flames. Who knew! Those little chips in the center will get super heated  and shoot fire while the chips on the outside are still firm. I am sure there is a science experiment in there somewhere. So that was last year, on to bigger and better cooking this year.

And when I say cooking I really mean melting something with chocolate. This time of year it is Goo Goo Clusters, melted chocolate and peanut butter coated around mini marshmallows and roasted peanuts. The combination of sweet and salty is perfect. We have been serving them for dinner every Halloween for about 6 years now. Our dentist loves us.
